Back on the books of Nemesis it’s Darrell.
Here’s just a few from the latest studio session, simple and clean, with just a whiff of mean.
Time for a little aside, back to some personal work that used to be the norm around here. Time to take a breath or two and just let the world be seen a different way, a visual essay of a day of peace and solitude (with maybe a slight dream-like overtone).
Education from the street, life lessons served upon the bricks and mortar of our city.
The world old battle of light Vs dark, the subversive intrigue of the darkness and the signs that lure us in.
I see the way now, just a little further and the light can be found, everything seemed so clear then.
I start to feel the walls closing in around me, the nature of my organic self struggling to break free.As I stop for coffee all of a sudden the world takes on a twisted reality. . . . .
My vision begins to blur, I wonder what new trickery is a foot.
Daylight and Darkness combine to confuse my senses further, perhaps I’m in a dream but I see no way out.
………………………………..
See it’s not all good looking people and fabulous clothing on my blog, every now and then I break out a more personal piece of photographic creativity. After all that’s the whole point of it all, creating stuff, just plain old having an idea and creating something. No agenda, no wanting payment, just creating and sharing, such is the beauty of the internet the ease with which it can be done.

Plus a hint at what we came up with for new girl Natalie. I love it when you see the shot and then realise where the inspiration came from for it. Avedon has been a huge factor in a lot of my work (especially my B&W) so it’s nice to create an image which I feel pays total homage to the man and his work.
The image from my mind that sparked the idea for this shot. It’s amazing how our minds just hold these images until the right situation calls for them. I saw what Natalie was wearing and the big ol’ white space and figured why not give it a go.

Just in case you thought I may have run off, here we are back with just a subtle colour one.
This kind of image really speaks volumes about why it’s important for working fashion, beauty and commercial photographers to shoot tests. These are unpaid shoots where all those involved give up time in the hope of creating something new and different for portfolio use.
Take this image for example, the idea and concept I’d brought was a kind of black glitter beauty look. I’d spoken to Meg the MUA and we’d nailed down our inspiration images and ideas of how we planned to create it. From the start I had B&W images in my head yet the freedom of my own creative brief means that after a little post production I create this (alongside the pre-envisaged shots).
