Sometimes a shoot just comes together. I found Artemis from looking at another photographers work online, I dropped her a line just to say well done and what would you know she was only going to be in York a few days later.
A few phone calls later I’d acquired my space and everything was set.
See it really isn’t that hard to get yourself creating new work, you just need to get off your behind.
A quick note on the space used. Bar Lane Studios, one of Yorks more creative venues. Gallery, artists in residence with studios, little cafe plus an event list packed to the gills. The basement was a recent find for me and figured it was worth a punt at using for this shoot. It worked really rather well, a couple of things could be done to help out some but all in all really nice (bit chilly mind but what can one expect in a basement mid February). Checkout the Bar Lane gang and if you’re ever in York why not pop in for some culture –
So many shots I love from today. Love the hair flicks, love the golden light, love the looking up to camera. This one just kind of jumped out of the camera straight away.
Still loving the red wall (I’ve christened it “Emmys Wall” seeing as she was it’s first (so to speak)).
Probably one of my favourites so far from todays shoot. It kind of captures what I wanted from the afternoon in one shot. Urban with a little street style and flair.
Thanks again Emmy, you rock those high-tops! Check out her sound here
Canon 5D2 50mm
Speedlight full power behind Emmy balanced with ambient from a fading sky.
Just a quick post of some of the selects from yesterdays shoot in the city. Good weather gave me plenty of light (too much at times for some locations). Some of the locations I wanted to try worked, some would have with different light and some just didn’t suit Matthews look.
The blue doors were perfect but the light was streaming in from the left making angles very tricky. One worth a revisit for sure.
